Title:
Base Verse: Luke 15:11-24 NASB
We don’t like to talk about sin. We avoid dealing with it, like to call it weakness, but we need to face it for what it is. Sin is sin, no matter what we say about it. We make choices each day based on the desires of our hearts. Some say their sin was just a mistake, yet the Bible says disobedience is s-i-n.
Let’s consider a passage of scripture that will help us build a cautionary note towards the sin in our lives.
Luke 15:11-24 NASB
Three Biblical truths:
- Sin will take you further than you want to go
- Whether it’s immorality, greed, or what you may, it will take you further.
- When you’ve got everything you want without Jesus, life begins going down a downward slope.
- Sin can become addictive: alcoholics, drug addicts, compulsive shopping eating etc.
- Sin separates you from those who aught to be your friends, confuses you about life decisions, deceives by convincing you a little is okay.
- Sin will keep you longer than you want to stay
- Satan’s lie: it won’t hurt you, you’re not bound to this, it won’t change you
- A LIFE OF SIN ALWAYS ENDS
- When you choose a life away from God, you can’t have it all. You’ll end up on the bottom with the short end of the stick.
- When you choose a life of sin, it steals your best, separates you from those who love you, distracts you from righteousness. We’ve forgotten the dangers of sin.
- Sin will cost you more than you want to pay
- Satan is a liar, deceiver, and a destroyer
- We can quote scripture all we want, but without the belief in the scripture and being sincere in our hearts in the words we say, nothing will change.
- Stop lying to yourself that you can dig yourself out of your hole. You need Jesus.
First recognize you are wasting your life away to sin--be honest with yourself.
Second, surrender yourself to the Lord.
Ask God for forgiveness.
Don’t wait, settle it with God today.
