Three Main Charactetistics of Prayer:
  1. Prayer is an always conversation.
    1. Even when we talk to God throughout the day, don’t forfiet quality time set aside for God.
    2. God is always here to listen to you.

  2. Prayer is an aligned conversation.
    1. Like a chiropracter, our prayers align our lives back with the Holy Spirit.
    2. Ephesians 6:18
    3. Characteristics of Prayer in the Spirit
      1. Prompted by the Spirit
        1. Your ideas to stop and pray is the Holy Spirit drawing you to Christ.
      2. Empowered by the Spirit
      3. Led by the Spirit
        1. The Holy Spirit leads us to pray in certian ways, for certian things, for certain people, at certain times.
        2. There is no one size fits all way to pray.
      4. Aligned with the Spirit
        1. Ephesians 6:18 TLB
        2. 1 John 5:14 NASB
        3. God uses prayer to align our hearts.
  3. Prayer is an aimed conversation.
    1. If we want specific results from our prayers, we need to be specific in our requests.
    2. Ephesians 6:18 NKJV
    3. Ephesians 6:18 NASB “with this in view”
    4. Three Aims for Prayer
      1. Aim for the blessing of other believers.
        1. “I am an intercessor. It is my calling to pray for other people.”
        2. Ephesians 6:18 “for all the saints”
        3. Christians aren’t exempt from the hardships of life. Let’s pray for the strength of each other. We need comfort, healing, faith.
      2. Aim for the new birth of unbelievers.
        1. Prayer for more people to be saved.
        2. Ephesians 6:19 NKJV
        3. Matthew 9:36-38
        4. “soften their heart for you”, “open the doors of their hearts”
        5. Do you have an unsaved person for which you’re praying for? How consistently are you praying for them?
        6. Do you have a top ten list of unbelievers for you?
      3. Aim for the battle
        1. Ephesians 6:11-12 NLT
        2. We are not only to pray for things, we are to pray against things.
        3. Throughout history, whenever socialism is embraced, God is displaced from society
        4. Rather than the voting box, the power is found in the prayer box.
