Title: Guided by God
Base Verse:
What guides your life? What motivates you? Money? Goals in life? Selfish
desires? A person? What about being guided by God? We're all guided by
something.
Taking Israelites to the Promised Land: should have taken a few weeks, but
it took them 40 years because of their unbelief.
If you had to name one thing that guides your life, what would you name?
Something or someone? When you wake up, make decisions throughout the day,
when you go to bed at night?
GOD'S GUIDANCE FOR OUR LIVES
Things we ought to be allowing to guide our life:
-
I'm guided by the living Word of God.
-
Meditate on the Word of God. Psalm 119:105
-
How far do you need to walk to find your Bible? You know where you put your favorite things in your home; is your Bible one of them? Is your Bible some piece of furniture, or something treasured and worn? How do you value your Bible?
-
Be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. John 16:13; Acts 16:7
-
We have, personally. the Holy Spirit to guide us through our questions in life.
-
Wait for God's timing. Isaiah 64:4
-
Walk where the way is not clear. Proverbs 3:5
-
When we acknowledge God in our lives, He will direct our paths.
-
The hesitations we feel are indications of the Spirit warning us to wait for God's best.
-
Obey when His command seems unreasonable. Joshua 6:2-3
-
Lean not on your own understanding; He will direct your path. He'll show you what to do, what not to do.
-
Courage to obey. Joshua 1:9
-
Living in obedience with God requires courage.
-
Experience conflict. Acts 5:29
-
None of this means we live perfect lives. We will experience conflict and hard times. We will experience temptation to sin.
-
God loves you. Do you got that in that skull of yours? He has enabled the Spirit to live within you so that you can make wise decisions.
Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him.
This principle cannot be achieved unless we live by the Word of God daily.
