Preacher: Dr. Anthony George
Title:
Base Verse:
-
Jesus did not care about appearances.
-
The appearance of success is not always success.
-
Does the appearance of being blessed by God matter to you more than actually being blessed?
-
People can climb up ladders that Satan puts before them.
-
Do I want the prosperity I can make, or the prosperity God can give me?
-
What good is it to have wealth and fame if you don’t have the ability to enjoy it?
-
Jesus did not worry about life.
-
Worldly concerns did not concern Him. He didn’t worry about His life, so don’t worry about yours.
-
Matthew 8:25 NKJV
-
Don’t worry because:
-
We have an awesome source.
-
Matthew 6:30 NKJV
-
We are of great value.
-
Matthew 6:26 NKJV
-
Remember: “We are valuable to God.”
-
Jesus did not panic about the future.
-
Matthew 6:34 NKJV
-
There may be things ahead of us that rock our world, but they will not change the fact that God is in control.
-
God wired us to continue thinking about the future.
-
Jesus knew the power of kingdom focus.
-
Focus determines many things in our lives, including our success.
-
What we ought to focus on the Kingdom of God.
-
Matthew 6:33 NKJV
-
Summary of Matthew 6: Everything we think we need. VS. Everything God knows we need and God’s ability to give us what we need.
-
Do I trust God to draw the line between these?
-

AG’s notes:
-
In light of what Jesus knows, Fight the ticking clock.
-
Jesus was never in a hurry. He knew there was a time when God had planned for him to do His Will.
-
Matthew 4:8-9 NKJV -- temptation for the shortcut to the reward
-
If God hasn’t allowed you to have something yet, He knows you aren’t ready for it. There are no shortcuts.
-
Ecclesiastes 7:8 NLT --pride tells you that you shouldn’t wait
-
Do not compare myself to others who are more established or more successful.
-
Career-wise, or family wise, or marriage. You ain’t them.
-
God is in charge of what’s considered established or successful in your life.
-
Do not be overwhelmed by the flood of information.
-
Information overload leads to anxiety. Satan knows what information to flood you with to cause anxiety.
-
Be who I am.
-
God’s plan is for you, not for anyone else. God has a different plan for other people so we can’t compare ourselves with them.
-
Trust who God is.
-
Does this fix everything? No, we relapse. We’re all in recovery mode.
-
One step plan: Seek Ye First.
