1 Corinthians 13: 1-13
- Corinthian church struggling with itself. Paul here pauses from listing spiritual gifts in chapters 12 and 14, focusing on love.
- One day we will see Jesus, his face unveiled to us. Similar to how at weddings, the bride's face is veiled and then revealed to the groom.
- Psalm, oh to see his face forevermore.
- Exodus, anyone who sees his face cannot live
- Word was with God and the Word was God. The portrait is given that in that moment, Jesus is with God
- Then Jesus became flesh
- Revelation 22:4
Longing to See Him Face to Face
- Who Jesus really is
- Our priceless treasure
- Spiritual gifts are nothing without love
- Even the gifts of prophesy and tongues would be nothing without love.
- "Peter, do you love me?" x3, "but Lord, you know that I love you!"
- Would you rather be loud, or would you rather be loved?
- Would you rather be known, or know His love for you?
- Would you rather feed the poor, or is Jesus your priceless treasure?
- Fix your eyes on Jesus, our priceless treasure and everything else will fall into place
- Is He your toolbox or your treasure?
- Our eternal vision
- Temporary: envy, praise yourself, rude, selfish, provoke, joyful sinning
- These will bring you away from your path
- Temporary: envy, praise yourself, rude, selfish, provoke, joyful sinning
- Eternal: patience, kindness, truth, faith, hope, endures
- Consistent walk with Jesus.
- Our weak nature brings us to Jesus.
- How much are you willing to give up so that your life can personify the Truth?
- Are your eyes given to the temporary or the eternal?
- 3. Tradition or greatest desire?
- Daily routines. Ask why you're doing what you're doing.
- If He is your greatest desire, no one could stop you.
- Our priceless treasure
