Making Prayer a Priority

Hello World!

Today is Tuesday. St. Patrick's Day. Exactly one week since I started the Bible Adventure. I should be on day 7 of the adventure in the book.

But I'm obviously not.

As with any commitment, the first few days are the toughest. And if the first few days don't go well, the rest probably won't either. (Ahem, diets!) The only way to make a commitment a daily habit is to make time for it each day, and I didn't do that when I started this first adventure. I realized the importance of this when I read the daily devotion from the InTouch Magazine last night. It's titled The Priority of Prayer. If you have time for it, I recommend everyone to read this!

The Devotion stems from Mark 1:35-37 and explains how important prayer should be in a Christian's life, since even Jesus made an effort to be alone and pray. It then presents points of how our discipline towards prayer should be. The point that stood out most to me was the last one--"A regular appointment". We shouldn't pray just whenever we feel like it, like a passing moment or when we have time for it. Instead, we need to make sure we have daily conversations with the Lord. Not just praying to ask, but actual conversations where we ask and listen.

So, I've decided on my "appointment" times with God every morning and night. Then I'll follow it up with Bible studies (and adventures). I'll ask the Lord to help me stick with this. :)

Dove Love,
Kym
