Title:
Base Verse: Luke 15:11-24 NASB

We don’t like to talk about sin. We avoid dealing with it, like to call it weakness, but we need to face it for what it is. Sin is sin, no matter what we say about it. We make choices each day based on the desires of our hearts. Some say their sin was just a mistake, yet the Bible says disobedience is s-i-n.

Title: Satan’s Strategy to Defeat Us
Base Verse: Romans 8:5-9

Many people live all their lives wondering why things turned out the way it did.
It’s interesting to realize those who don’t believe that Satan exists are those who are blindly following him. Take a look at today’s verses, Romans 8:5-9 NASB. Satan works by playing with our minds.
What’s your basis on being a Christian?

When it comes to Satan, every day of our lives is a mental battlefield.

Title:
Base Verse: Luke 22:34-42

Defined: The Will of God is that which God approves of and determines to bring about. It concerns God's choices of what to do and not to do.
Is anybody asking: What’s the Will of God?
  • 1 Peter 3:17
    • It is better to suffer for doing right; if that should be God's Will, it is better than anything you do on your own.
  • Do you consult God before making decisions?
    • Should I buy this? Should I go to this event? Should I go to this place? Should I marry this person?
  • God loves you and has a plan designed especially for you.
    • When you ask God for direction, He’s not going to turn a deaf ear to you.
    • There are a lot of things that we are not equipped for. But you were created for a specific purpose and we must listen to God to discover just what that purpose is.

Oct. 21, 2018 | A Holy Life

These are notes from a sermon message heard at First Baptist Church of Atlanta. To hear the message, please visit their website here. My notes are only meant to be a guide to assist in your Bible study. Enjoy! :)

Date: October 21, 2018
Preacher: Dr. Charles Stanley
Title: A Holy Life

When you think of God, what do you think about? When was the last time you spoke about the holiness of God?

Definitions on holiness:
  • The word Holy means marked off, separate, morally spotless in character, free from evil, no one or thing like Him.
  • Holiness is about a holy additude with our relationship with God.

Our society is flooded with unholiness.

A Godly life is a life ruled by obedience.

What do you call a good life? We should not go by the world’s standards of what a good life is. A good life to the world is full of material possessions and wealth. A good life for Christians is a holy life, spiritually filled with the Holy Spirit, walking each step with God.

Title:
Base Verse: Colossians 3:1-8

On any given day, what goes through your mind the most? We are all the products of what goes through our mind every day. Your brain to your body is the same as the airport control tower. So what are you thinking? We all choose to believe or not believe something. There are no exceptions. Whatever I hold in my mind, day after day, that is what you’ll become.

Different mindsets:
  • clogged mind
    • Stuck on the same ideas over and over
  • cluttered mind
    • mind full of various ideas and is disorganized
  • carnal mind-sensual, lustful, sexual
    • focused on fleshly desires
  • critical mind
    • Can’t accept feedback
  • God-focused mind
    • What does God say about this?
Are you happy with yourself? If not, it is never too late to change.
