Title: The Knowledge of His Will
Base Verse: Colossians 1:9-12
Beyond being saved; Okay, I’ve become a Christian--what now?
-
God has a plan for your life. You aren’t part of a herd; you have been specifically chosen to fulfill a purpose God planned for you.
-
The Will of God: that which God approves of and determines to bring about. It concerns God’s choices of what to do and what not to do.
Three parts to the Will of God:
-
God’s Predestined Will
-
Irresistible, Unchangeable
-
An example is Christ dying on the cross.
-
God’s Moral Will
-
The Commandments
-
1 Thessalonians 4:1-8 NASB
-
Major cause of sin and destruction of society today
-
God’s Desired Will
-
Salvation
-
Baptism
-
Fruit of the Spirit
-
Praying
-
Character
Where do you fit yourself in these? You know He has a plan for you, but how
is your moral life? Have you asked God what His Will for your life is? We
are each unique and have different lives; God does not judge based on what
you can and cannot do in comparison to others. We are morally responsible
to God to live a moral life; He is more than willing to show you how. It’s
never too late to take part in the blessings God has planned for you. The
Almighty God is not limited to what you’ve experienced in the past or
whatever your current circumstances are now; He is able to orchestrate your
situations to realign yourself to His Will and blessings if you are
willing.
God will show you His Will in any category of life.

Psalm 16:11 NASB
-
Psalm 32:8
-
Proverbs 3:5-6
Things that often hinder us from discovering and doing the Will of God
-
Self will
-
Influence of others
-
Others can bring you down, but they don’t know the Will of God for your life.
-
Ignorance of the Word
-
Doubt
-
Don’t put cuffs on God’s hands
-
Feelings of unworthiness
-
God is willing to love you and cleanse you. You ain’t too busy to die rejecting God.
-
Fear
-
I know what He wants me to do, but I don’t think I can do it.
-
You can’t disobey God and live a happy life.
-
Lord, I don’t know what you can do
-
One thing God will never do: bring up the past and your failures--He’ll bring you to your future
-
Willful known sin
-
He’s already pointed out to you what you need to do. You have two choices. Decide to drop it and follow God, or continue to let this sin keep dragging you down.
-
You don’t need to tell others your secret sins. God already knows them all and He’s already forgiven them all. You cannot be too wicked for God. All you need to do is to ask God for you to recieve His forgiveness so that you may start living the life He has planned for you.
